Sam Darnold Praises Seahawks Coordinator Brian Fleury

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold appreciates the consistent temperament of rookie offensive coordinator Brian Fleury. Darnold described Fleury as ‘stoic,’ noting that whether the play is good or bad, Fleury’s demeanor remains unchanged. This trait was spotlighted when Seahawks’ starter Darnold sustained a glute injury in the season opener, leading to backup Drew Lock taking over. Under Fleury’s guidance, Lock executed key plays that helped the team secure a win against the New England Patriots.

When Seahawk’s offense faced a critical moment in the fourth quarter trailing by seven, Fleury chose a play for Lock that tied the game with a touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. This was followed by another scoring drive which contributed to a 13-10 victory. Lock later praised Fleury’s calm approach during the game.

The Seattle Seahawks are now preparing to face the Denver Broncos, with questions around the effectiveness of their offense under Fleury’s leadership. Despite these challenges, the team’s performance under Fleury’s coordination will be crucial as they move forward in the season. Coach Mike Macdonald is confident in Fleury’s ability to address and improve the team’s offensive strategies.
